College plays an integral role in shaping the future trajectories of young leaders into excelling within their respective careers. As the Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development at Ringling College of Art and Design, I am entrusted with the responsibility of fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment where students can thrive personally and professionally.
In this role, I led the Department of Student Activities and Leadership Development at Ringling College of Art and Design, orchestrating campus-wide programs that transcend traditional boundaries, promoting social interaction, community development, and providing a platform for healthy social and educational entertainment. My commitment was to create an atmosphere that encourages both personal and professional growth, and community connection.
Having overseen 50+ active student clubs and organizations, as well as the Campus Activities Board, my focus was on guiding student leaders to contribute to the vibrant tapestry of campus life. I've been instrumental in fostering a 26% increase in social media engagement and a substantial 68% rise in student organization involvement, reflecting the dynamic and inclusive campus environment we've cultivated.
Beyond the campus borders, I actively engaged with the local Sarasota community to expose students to additional resources and community affiliates. This included facilitating community partnerships that enhance the student experience through collaborations and expanded access to resources. My belief in the transformative power of community engagement extends to campus initiatives that celebrate diversity and promote an inclusive environment.
Hiring and training Orientation Leaders during New Student Orientation was another facet of my commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for newcomers. Additionally, being part of an on-call duty rotation allowed me to respond to issues requiring crisis management skills, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
In conclusion, my focus as the Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development is on shaping an environment where every student can realize their potential and leave a lasting impact on the vibrant community we cultivate together. Through my dedication to fostering inclusive environments, promoting student engagement, and facilitating opportunities for personal and professional development, I was committed to ensure that Ringling College remains a place where students thrive both academically and personally.
